New logo: Etihad Rail

Union Railway is an enterprise which was launched in 2009 to build a railway network in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which until recently hasn't had any railways. Yesterday evening, March 23, a new corporate identity was unveiled which renames the company Etihad Rail. Etihad happens to mean "union" in Arabic.

The new symbol uses the colours of the UAE flag. A red line extends from the symbol over the company name. This line usually continues when the logo is placed on a paper or on rolling stock

The new identity was developed by Brash Brands, a brand consultancy from Dubai.

More after the jump!

From an Etihad Rail press release (archive):
Abu Dhabi, March 23, 2011: Etihad Rail, the master developer and operator of the UAE’s first railway network - formerly known as Union Railway - today unveiled its new dynamic corporate identity, which incorporates the colours of the UAE flag as a symbol of the national significance of the railway network and which communicates the company’s values, objectives and aspirations, along with its unwavering commitment to excellence and putting the needs of its customers first. Etihad Rail also revealed its future plans for the nationwide railway project and its phases of implementation, and announced that its first route will be completed in 2013 to transport the first shipment of granulated sulphur from Shah and Habshan to Ruwais, to be exported abroad in partnership with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).
