The rebrand was headed by Dinko Lacic, creative director ad MTV Networks Germany, and involved several European agencies and creative professionals. |

| Comedy Central Created by: The Lab Launched: January The Lab (archive) Vimeo | Comedy Central rebranded in early January, with a channel package centered around the new "Comedymark". This identity was later adapted for European markets. |

| ORF eins Created by: DMC and UnitedSenses Launched: January 8 UnitedSenses (archive) | Austrian entertainment channel ORF 1 became ORF eins, giving up its outdated logo-based graphics. On-air graphics based around a vertical navigation system were created by DMC, while UnitedSenses filmed 22 channel idents with ORF personalities around Austria. |

| Discovery Channel (UK) Created by: DixonBaxi, Double G Studios and Discovery UK Creative Discovery UK Creative (archive) DixonBaxi (archive) The Ident Gallery Art & Business of Motion Creative Review | Discovery Channel UK launched a new look in January, created as a collaboration between DixonBaxi, Double G Studios and the in-house agency Discovery UK Creative. The identity is centered around the D in the Discovery logo, replacing the globe with objects and images related to the channel's content. This look was later adapted for other European markets. |

| Travel Channel Created by: Loyalkaspar Launched: Late January (?) loyalkaspar (archive) Brand New | The Travel Channel wanted a new look that was more "more human and closer to home", a loyalkaspar delivered with a personality-driven network identity with location shots and clean, quirky typography. |

Idents for the primary channel Sky 1 show slices of British life with a large mirrored 1 numeral. The new look was created by the in-house agency Sky Creative with post-production from MPC. |

| Sky Atlantic Created by: Heavenly Launched: February 1 Heavenly (archive) Heavenly News (archive) Prime Focus Art & Business of Motion The Ident Gallery TV Live | Sky also launched a completely new channel called Sky Atlantic, dedicated to quality TV, marketed as the UK "Home of HBO". The identity for Sky Atlantic was developed by Heavenly, who created a series of idents showing vignettes of UK and US life. |

| Sky Movies Created by: Sky Creative, MPC Launched: February 1 Music: Ilan Eshkeri MPC (archive) The Ident Gallery | The new 55 second ident for the eleven movie channels operated by Sky may well have been the most epic identity spot of the year. Dubbed 'Sky 360', the spot pans through five cinematic landscapes, inviting the viewer to enter the magical world of movies. The project was headed by Sky's in-house agency Sky Creative, who contacted post-production company MPC to create the technically and creatively complex ident. A riveting score was composed by Ilan Eshkeri and performed by the London Metropolitan Orchestra. |

| ABC1 Launched: February 6 ABC TV Blog (archive) idents.tv TV Tonight | To make viewers aware that it wasn't all about current affairs and documentaries, ABC1 launched a friendly new look under the slogan "Think Entertainment", while highlighting its comedy and drama programming. |

| Channel 5 Created by: Earth Launched: February 14 Art & Business of Motion Branding Source The Ident Gallery | Five, the fifth terrestrial network in the UK, became Channel 5 and introduced idents based on an idea called "Stage 5", a soundstage with a large screen where anything can happen. |

| Arte Launched: February 28 Branding Source Art & Business of Motion Nova Spot | France-German cultural channel Arte introduced a new look, which was lead in-house and involved several creative professionals. About 30 identity spots were filmed in Slovenia, directed by Joe Vanhoutteghem from Belgium. |

The movie channels, CinéCinéma, were renamed Ciné+. UK agency Devilfish created ident for each channel that "distilled the essence of each cinematic genre to a single abstract scene". |
