New logo: Gala TV

Galavisión is one of four national television network's operated by Mexico's largest media company, Televisa. Today its programming offer includes telenovelas, news, sports, reality and entertainment. Yesterday, April 15, it changed its name to Gala TV and adopted a new logo. The logo was developed by the Mexican agency Ideograma, while the brand strategy and on-air identity was developed by Troika in Los Angeles.

This part of a network strategy to make its operations more efficient and its programming more attractive. The swirly "spiral galaxy" icon combines three elements, the letter G for the name of the network, the number 9 for the channel that the network is typically allocated and a range of colors representing both the color bar on a test card and "the dynamic and joyful spirit" of the new programming.

Previous logo. Yes, this is literally the best version I could find.

From a press release issued by Troika:
"The rebrand of Mexican network Galavision to GalaTV establishes the network as a premiere television destination that delivers a consistent, high quality brand experience that is also adaptable to its wide range of content. The network’s revamped strategy aims to deliver an entertaining, dynamic experience to viewers, and serve the network’s broad audience by customizing messaging around different language delineations and customs throughout its regions in Mexico.

Said Reid Thompson, Creative Director at Troika, “Galavision was a well established brand in Mexico, but we wanted to take it to the next level. Troika partnered with Televisa to move it from a network that everybody knows, to a network everybody talks about. The new identity brings this strategy to life, connecting to audiences by building a brand around the core pillars of adaptability, curiosity, and consistency.”

The network’s identity is rooted in the creative concept “Caleidoscopio,” featuring dynamic movements and a bright, broad color palette that celebrates the spectrum of GalaTV’s entertainment offerings. Each programming genre features different tones and hues – red for passionate Novelas, green for sports – that, together, creates an overlay of intersecting colors that collectively represent the GalaTV brand. To familiarize audiences with the new GalaTV logo, the on-air identity is anchored in abstractions of the logo’s shapes, which become windows for promotional imagery, language, and tune-in information.

  2. El nuevo logotipo de Galavision Mexico, es a mi gusto... Horrible! Me gustaban mas las nueve esferas de diferentes colores y el nombre de la cadena al pie de ellas. Ahora me gusta mas el logotipo de Galavision Miami.
