Ak Bars Bank is a Russian financial company, based in Kazan, the Republic of Tatarstan. The name is derived from the official symbol of Tatarstan, a snow leopard. In late May it launched new brand identity, created by Landor Associates.
The refreshed brand is positioned around offering solutions to improve the lives of the banks's clients. The new logo keeps the colours and basic symbol of its predecessor, but updates it to appear lighter and more modern.
According to a press release, the old logo was developed in 1997 by a local design agency called "Mian".
"The new mark conveys the bank’s easy and modern approach to banking, and reflects its focus on what clients really want. We needed to retain certain important elements of the brand’s previous expression and heritage, including the colors, which symbolize the significance of the brand in the economy of the Republic of Tatarstan. To highlight the bank’s role as an assistant and guide in consumers’ lives, we created a visual using a light pen as a source of illumination." - Landor Associates
